Holiday Message from the North Central Province

Dear Brothers,

Let me take this opportunity to say "Merry Christmas to you and your families!"

This is the time of year when we remember that God sent his only son 'to serve, not to be served'. He restored love and service to the centre of our lives in the person of Jesus Christ.
It is my prayer this Christmas Day that his example and teaching will continue to bring people together to give the best of themselves in the service of others.

Let us allow our hearts to be touched, let us allow ourselves to be warmed by the tenderness of our deeds.  Let us allow ourselves to be moved by the goodness of those around us.

For many, the holiday season is also a time for coming together. But for others inlcuding many in our noble clan, service will come first. Those serving in our armed forces, in our emergency services and in our hospitals, whose sense of duty takes them away from family and friends, will be missing those they love.

And those who have lost loved ones may find this day especially full of memories. That's why it's important at this time of year to reach out beyond our familiar relationships to think of those who are on their own.

Here's wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Yours in the Bond,

Korlon

Quarterly Nupe Networking Event:

Get to Know a Brother

Chicago (IL) Alumni Chapter
Chartered April 17, 1919
The First, Foremost, The Standard

Brothers,

This event is open to members of Kappa Alpha Psi ONLY from any chapter, financial or non-financial, Chicago Alumni or other alumni chapters. We will have information for those seeking more knowledge about life in the alumni chapter. However, a big part of life in the alumni chapter is to have fun which is the goal of this event.

The event is free of charge, and food will be provided for as long as it lasts. Brothers must REGISTER below in order for food to be adequately served. There will be a cash bar for beer, wine, and other spirits at greatly discounted prices!
Dress is casual, but Brothers are encouraged to wear or bring your Kappa paraphernalia, because we will have a barter exchange for Nupes who want to trade old pari or clear out their closets!

This event is a day party at our constantly moving virtual Kappa House, this time at the Grand Ballroom. The event is created to have fun and to promote fellowship amongst the Nupes. There will be cards, dominoes, checkers/chess, Nupe Jeopardy and other programming, as well as a Nupe DJ to promote our Brotherhood.

Parking will be plentiful. If you are a Brother in need transportation to this event, please contact us at the number below. For more information and to register, email us at membership@chicagoalumni1919.org or call/text (312) 593-6405.

CAC Nupe Networking Quarterly Event #2..Get to Know a Brother @ Tantrum in Chicago a big success!

Nupes, the Nupe Network event #2...Get to Know a Brother, was a big success!  The after-work set held at the Nupe owned Tantrum (thanks Bros Shun Dyes and McClendon!) on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 5-7:30 hosted over 50 Brothers throughout the night up to 10 pm, when I left.  The Nupe DJ Brian Sayles of Kappa Phi Spring 88' played some outstanding sounds all night long AND he was able to network and get to know more Nupes as well! One of the great thing about the event was that we had Brothers from every demographic and region in the house.  The networking was hot and many cards were exchanged and some business was getting done.

At the end of the day these events are about Brothers getting to know each other better.  When a relationship is tight, then much good work can be done.  We can all do the work of Kappa, which is to achieve on all levels, and to serve the community, if we are working together as one team!  You can only do that if you know who is on your team.  So many times during chapter meetings orother events, the business at hand does not allow the time to have a meaningful discussion with your Brother.  That is what the Nupe Networking event is about...that we may have those conversations which take us to a higher level of mutual commitment and Brotherhood!

As mentioned, this was Nupe Network quarterly event #2, so there will be more to come.  The plan for the next one is late April/early May window so stay in touch but we'll get the info out to you as well...don't worry, we won't leave you behind.  The Nupes are like the Marines and the Navy Seals...we don't leave anyone behind!

We want to thank all the Nupes that took the time from their busy schedules to attend the event from the chapters of Alpha, Beta, Omicron, Theta, Gamma UP, Xi, Kappa Phi, Kappa Beta (U. of Memphis), Chicago Alumni, Harvey-Markham Alumni, St. Louis Alumni, Charlotte Alumni, Lamda PI (U. of Mississippi), Zeta Mu (Western I. U.), Epsilon Omicron (Northern Ill U), Theta Gamma (Eastern Ill U), Kappa Alpha (Ill. State U).  YO to all of you for coming out and Getting to know a Brother.

See you at the next Nupe Networking event!
